Hi...
I seem to have got some malware ... I have a desktop screen that is just black, with the following text across it....

.......................................................................................................

WARNING!
YOUR'RE IN DANGER!
YOUR COMPUTER IS INFECTED WITH SPYWARE!

ALL YOU DO WITH COMPUTER IS STORED FOREVER IN YOUR HARD DISK.
WHEN YOU VISIT SITES, SEND EMAILS.. ALL YOUR ACTIONS ARE LOGGED,. AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE THEM WITH STANDARD TOOLS.
YOUR DATA IS STILL AVAILABLE FOR FORENSICS. AND IN SOME CASES

FOR YOUR BOSS, YOUR FRIENDS, YOUR WIFE, YOUR CHILDREN.
Every site you or somebody or even something, like spyware, opened in your browsers,
with all the images, and all the downloaded and maybe later removed movies or mp3 songs -
ARE STILL THERE and could braek your life!

SECURE YOURSELF RIGHT NOW!
REMOVE ALL SPYWARE FROM YOUR PC!

...........................................................................................

The other issue is that I don'e seem to ba able to run .exe files ..... so can't get HiJackthis to run ..... so no log file attached ...

Any suggestions please??

Many thanks, Garry.

Try the instructions here to fix the inability to run .exe files:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555067

In order for us to help you it is necessary that you provide us with a HijackThis log. A HijackThis log, as well as other logs that may be requested, provide us with a guideline for removing whatever malware is infecting your system. We cannot proceed without such logs for guidance.

Once you have resolved your computer's inability to run .exe files, then please follow the guideline at the link below to start a new topic and post your HijackThis log. If you are unable to create and post a HijackThis log, then your only option may be to reformat your computer and reinstall the operating system.

This topic is now closed. Please start a new topic by following the HijackThis Guideline posted here: >Guideline for posting your HijackThis log<
