Hello Kat,
Sorry you experienced problems with Kaspersky Online scanner... I clicked the link provided and saw the Scan Now button... maybe there was a problem with the site when
you visited. I would like you to try the scan again... I have included the instructions again for your convenience. In case you still have problems with Kaspersky...
I included instructions for running a Panda Active Scan...

Just to be sure... when you stated: "Removed all the files you listed."... You really meant that you removed the HJT line entries. Yes?
Not the actual files?

Please perform these steps... these must be done in the given sequence... so if there are any problems, stop... and post back.
Read the instructions carefully first... then perform the steps. If you are unsure about anything, post back and ask before proceeding.

Step 1.
Kaspersky Online Scanner. (Again...)
Please go to Kaspersky Online Virus Scanner © Kaspersky Lab to perform an online antivirus scan.

1. Click on the ...button.
2. The program will launch and fill in the Information section ... on the left.
3. Read the "Requirements and Limitations" then press... the ...button.
4. The program will begin downloading the latest program and definition files.
   It takes a while... please be patient and let it finish.
5. Once the files have been downloaded, click on the ...button.
   In the scan settings make sure the following are selected:
   • Detect malicious programs of the following categories:
     Viruses, Worms, Trojan Horses, Rootkits
     Spyware, Adware, Dialers and other potentially dangerous programs
   • Scan compound files (doesn't apply to the File scan area):
     Archives
     Mail databases
     By default the above items should already be checked.
   • Click the ...button, if you made any changes.
6. Now under the Scan section on the left:
   Select My Computer
7. The program will start and scan your system. This will run for a while, be patient... let it run.
   Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
8. Save the scan results as a Text file ... save it to your desktop.
9. Copy and paste the saved scan results file in your next reply.

If you still can not execute the Kaspersky Online scan... try the Panda Active scan. If you succeed with Kaspersky, no need to run the Panda scan.

Step 2.
Panda ActiveScan
Please go to Panda ActiveScan © Panda Security... to perform a free online scan.
Please use Internet Explorer as the scan requires ActiveX.

1. Click on the Scan your PC now button.
   A new window will open.
2. Select your country... then type in your email address.
   You may also optionally choose to receive emails from Panda. If you don't wish to, please select the appropriate option.
3. Click on Free online scan.
4. You will be prompted to install an ActiveX. Please allow it.
5. Once installed, it will start downloading the virus definitions. This can take a while...please be patient.
6. Once the files are downloaded, it will ask you to select what to scan. Select My Computer.
7. The scan will start. The scan will also take a long time... please be patient.
8. Once done, click on View Report.
9. You will be brought to another page. Click on Save Report. Save it to your desktop.

Please post the scan report in your next reply.

Step 3.
Please include in your next reply:

1. Any problems following and performing these instructions
2. Kaspersky scan results -or-
3. Panda scan results.
4. Let me know how your computer is behaving.

Morning.

Still coulnd't see the scan now button so had to complete the Panda scan. It took hours so had to leave my computer over night but now have the results....

Hello Kat,
The Panda scan showed a bunch of cookies, that you can easily delete using the ATF Cleaner you downloaded in earlier steps. You can use that program regularly, as a housekeeping
tool. The System Volume Information references in the Panda scan are from old System Restore Points (SRP). System Restore backups up various system settings and files...good or bad, it has no way of knowing.
So we need to remove the old SRPs, as using one that is compromised, will re-infect your system again.

Please perform these steps... these must be done in the given sequence... so if there are any problems, stop... and post back.
Read the instructions carefully first... then perform the steps. If you are unsure about anything, post back and ask before proceeding.

Step 1.
OTC
Let's perform some housekeeping and cleanup some of the tools we used.
Please download OTC.exe... by OldTimer. Save it to your desktop.

1. Double click on OTCl.exe.
   If you recieve the "Open File - Security Warning" prompt, press "Run".
2. Click on CleanUp!.
3. Click "Yes" to the Begin cleanup process? prompt.
4. Click "Yes" ... when prompted to reboot the computer to remove files.

Your computer should restart automatically. If it doesn't, please do so manually.

Step 2.
Create a new - clean SRP (System Restore Point)
We need to create a new, clean SRP and remove any old entries that may possibly be compromised.
Create a new SRP

1. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
2. Select Create a restore point... then press the Next...button.
3. Type a name for the new SRP... then press the Create... button.
4. When finished... press the Close...button.
   Now you have a good clean SRP that can be used, if needed.

Remove old SRP entries

1. Now... Go to Start > Run... type in: cleanmgr...press the OK...button.
   The Disk Cleanup window will show it is "calculating" the amount of space saved by compressing old files. This could take a few seconds, to minutes.
2. When available... select the More Options... tab.
   In the System Restore section... at the bottom of the window...
3. Press the Clean up...button. Reply Yes to the "Are you sure you want to delete all but the most recent restore point?" prompt.
4. Press the X to close and exit.
   All existing restore points will be deleted... except the new one you just created.

Step 3.
