laptop slow "can not execute missing file" at shutdown.

I'm running XP Pro sp3 on Thinkpad A31p with Intel 4 M 2GHz, 1.25GB RAM. On shutdowns sometimes after desktop goes blank, I get error "can not execute missing file", then it shuts off. At times I have very slow process when running multiple browser windows and playing music. I noticed there was a blank file under msconfig in the startup files. There are also several files in the startup pointing to folders enclosed by " ". There's also a file named ".
After running HijackThis, the resulting log is below. I ran SPYBOT Search & Destroy and nothing was found.
Please advice. I'm deploying to Iraq and will use my laptop for training.
