CPU is running very slow.Cannot have 2 pages up at same time.

You appear to be running at least two antivirus products which is not a good idea since they hog resources and can actually hinder each others effectiveness. Please choose one to be the main protection and use the other one for period backup scans. In your case I would opt for uninstalling pestpatrol. It is possible that these antivirus products are BOTH trying to access your email simultaneously for checking purposes. I am also not sure if you are running Zone Alarm and Nortons Firewall, if so, please close one of them down.

You currently are running an outdated version HijackThis and it does not provide a complete log.
You must update HijackThis. Please download the latest version ( 1.99.1) from the following link:

HijackThis Download Site

Once it is downloaded, extract the zip file to c:\hjt - NOT the location you have the previous version in - and navigate to the c:\hjt folder.
Now double-click on hijackthis.exe and when the window opens, Press the Scan now and save a logfile button and then when it is done, copy and paste the complete contents of the notepad it opens as a reply to this post.

That was too easy

Was Norton providing both antivirus and firewall? If so you need to keep one of them running.

Please follow the rest of the instructions and post a HJT log for me to look at just in case something else is lurking in the system.

Sorry to hear you still have problems.
The instructions below will walk you through removal of some HJT lines and then the running Ewido which will examine your system and remove any malware it finds.

Please read these instructions carefully. You may wish to print them out for reference.
If you do not understand ANYTHING please ask for clarification before starting.
Do not run any other programs while you carry out this fix.

Let each process run to completion before starting the next
Please download the following programs:
Note: don't run them yet! There is an order we need to follow

• Please download, install and update Ewido trojan scanner:
  
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
    
  • When you run Ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
    
  • From the main Ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
  • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful") close Ewido. You will run it later during the cleanup process.


Run HijackThis and do a Scan Only. Place a check against each of the following lines. :

Close all other windows and Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into safe mode

• Restart the computer.
  
• Some computers have a progress bar that refers to the word BIOS. Others may not let you know what is happening.
• As soon as the BIOS loads, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Do so until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
• If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. If this happens, restart the computer and try again.
• Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, select Safe mode and hit enter.


• Please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan
  


Reboot into normal mode.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and the Ewido log we will take another look at them.

i ran ewido. saved the files but cant seem to find them now.i saved them to the desktop but they are gone now.cpu seems to be working better now though. thanks

Your log looks clean and so I can't really help with the IE problem.
Try this:
check Tools...Internet Options...Advanced.... Uncheck "Reuse Windows for launching shortcuts".

If it persists you should look at http://windowsxp.mvps.org which gives some good advice on IE problems.
That site also provides IEFix which will reset IE and hopefully this will work.

The problem with high CPU usage may be linked to the streaming software you have on your machine.

Good to hear that the CPU is running well.

I've had another thought about your IE problem. Does it happen regularly or only when you click a link on the page?

I had a similar issue with my browser in that sometimes a new window would not open (nowhere near as bad as your problem) and I managed to track that down to an over zealous pop up blocker. I opted to keep the blocker and live with the minor inconvenience.
