Tried to download AVG but no success it says there is anti spyware on my computer. Paid $$ 3 months ago to remove some virus. Do I need to go that route again? Please help

Never permit your system to be without an anti-virus. If your paid anti-virus program expires and you cannot renew at that time, then download one of the free for personal use anti-virus programs, such as avast!, AVG, or AntiVir. Uninstall the expired anti-virus and install the free one until such time as you can purchase your preferred paid anti-virus program.
