fred's PC has firefox crashes and searches get hijacked

i have problems with firefox crashing regularly and with searches (via google and yahoo) getting hijacked regularly, redirecting to sites i'm not expecting

i have run MalwareBytes AntiMalware, after making sure i've got the most recent version - 1.35 (i ran a full scan yesterday and a quick scan today) -- see log below

i have also just run TrendMicro's HijackThis (again a very current version) and this log is attached

i could use some help getting whatever this is off my PC -- i've also tried 2 other tools: Spybot - Search&Destroy and Ad-Aware2008 from Lavasoft ... nothing has been able to identify and kill this thing

If you still require help, please start a new topic and post a fresh HijackThis log, along with a complete description of all symptoms you are currently experiencing that make you feel your system is infected with malware. Also, in the same post, please include an Uninstall List.

To create an Uninstall List, open HijackThis and, from the Main Menu > click on the "Open the Misc Tools section" button > click "Open Uninstall Manager" > click "Save List." Save the list to your Desktop or any convenient location. Next, copy the contents of the Uninstall List and paste it into the same post as your HijackThis log.
