Malware issues

Unread postby Obstacle1 » March 28th, 2009, 8:42 pm

Well my computer seems to be infected with some trojans. I was browsing the web on internet explorer, pretty sure my Norton Anti Virus thing was down, or just not fully turned on.... a random site popped up and I didn't close it fast enough apparently because then all I know is that everything slowed down like crazy, there was a random blue and green background on my computer. Everything was taking forever to do. I managed to download Ad-Aware, Spybot Search and Destroy, and AVG Anti-Virus and did scans with all of them and deleted some trojans. It cleared up most of it but there's definitely some things left on the system. Every now and then I'll click a link and it'll take me to a random ad site. Also some of my programs don't work all that well anymore, specifically MSN Messenger. And finally sometimes my computer will just slow down like crazy, and it'll take forever to do anything or just freeze and I'll have to reboot. That's about all I can think of. Thanks for the help/time.

Hi Obstacle1,

Welcome to MRU. My name is davis. I will be helping you to fix your malware problems.
If your issues have been resolved or already received help elsewhere, then please let us know. If not, and still need help. Please follow the instructions in the following.
In the meantime, please refrain from making any changes to your computer. Please rescan your computer and post a new HJT log and an Uninstall List.

Make an Uninstall List

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button
5. Click on the Save list button
6. It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default, it's named uninstall_list.txt.
7. Copy and paste the contents in your next reply and a fresh HJT log.

Hi Obstacle1,

Step1

Regarding to Malware Removal's P2P Programs Policy, please uninstall the following program before we continue:

  1. Click on Start > Control Panel and double click on Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Locate BitLord 1.1 and LimeWire 4.16.6 and click on the Change/Remove button to uninstall it.
  3. Close Add/Remove Programs and Control Panel when done.

Step2

Please go toJotti's Scan or Virus Total for scanning some suspicious files.
Copy /paste the below files path one by one into the text box next to the Browse button at the top of the page.

C:\WINDOWS\Tkege.dll
C:\WINDOWS\ixodomip.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllhost.exe

Click the Submit or Send File button and copy "Scanner results", and paste the contents into your next reply.

Step3

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

In your next reply, please post back:

1.Virus Total report
2.RSIT log.txt and info.txt. Thanks.

Unread postby davis » April 5th, 2009, 10:49 pm

Hi Obstacle1,

I do not recommend that you have more than one anti virus product installed and running on your computer at a time. In your case, you have an AVG 8.5 Antivirus, and McAfee VirusScan Enterprise.
The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, then those products which do not encrypt the virus strings within them can cause other anti virus products to cause "false alarms".
It can also lead to a clash as both products fight for access to files which are opened again this is the resident/automatic protection. In general terms, the two programs may conflict and cause:
1) False Alarms: When the anti virus software tells you that your PC has a virus when it actually doesn't.
2) System Performance Problems: Your system may lock up due to both products attempting to access the same file at the same time.
Therefore please go to Add/Remove Porgrams in the control panel and remove one of two programs in the following.

AVG 8.5
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise

Step1

Back up the whole registry with ERUNT

  1. Please use the following link and download ERUNT.
  2. http://aumha.org/freeware/freeware.php
  3. For the zipped version:
  4. Unzip all the files into a folder of your choice.
  5. Click Erunt.exe to backup your registry to the folder of your choice.
Note: to restore your registry, go to the folder and start ERDNT.exe

Step2

Download OTMoveIt3.exe by OldTimer and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on OTMoveIt3.exe to run it
  • Copy & paste the contents of the Code box below into Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved
  • Note: Do not type it out to minimize the risk of typo error
    Code: Select all
    :Processes
    explorer.exe

    :Files
    C:\WINDOWS\Tkege.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\ixodomip.dll

    :Reg
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "Hjisonuloh"=-
    "Exepanomozolocem"=-
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB}]

    :Commands
    [EmptyTemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
  • Click on MoveIt!
  • When done, click on Exit
  • Note: If a file or folder can't be moved immediately, you may be asked to restart your computer. Choose Yes.
  • A log will be produced at C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\date_time.log, where date_time are numbers. Post this log in your next reply.

Step3

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

  1. Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  2. Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  3. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  4. Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  5. The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  6. When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  7. Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  8. When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.
  9. The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.or you can find from here:
  10. C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt
  11. You can refer to this tutorial

Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

In your next reply, please post back:

1.OTMoveIt log
2.MBAM log
3.New HJT log

Tell me how your pc is running now.

  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 13...allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Select your Platform: "Windows".
  • Select your Language: "Multi-language".
  • Read the License Agreement, and then check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • Click Continue and the page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save the file to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check (highlight) the following Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.

  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
