CA Security Suite wont remove Unpdoor H Trojan

Unread postby Peter_41 » December 20th, 2008, 9:10 pm

Hi,

Every time I logon to my PC CA Security Suite 2009 highlights a Trojan, "Unpdoor H" & recommends I quantine it, which I do, but it renains in my Registry (since 21/09/09). When I visit their support page it has no record of this Trojan. I've located its address as:-

Key "hkey_local_machine \system\currentcontrolset\services\bndmss"
Key "hkey_local_machine \system\currentcontrolset\enum\root\legacy_bndmss"

Re: CA Security Suite wont remove Unpdoor H Trojan

Unread postby chryssi2001 » January 2nd, 2009, 10:45 am

Hello Peter 41,

Disable Windows Defender until the computer is clean
Windows Defender normally provides real-time protection from spyware, however it may interfere with what we need to do. We will disable it until the machine is clean when it can be re-enabled.

  • Open Windows Defender
  • Select Tools and then General Settings
  • Under Real Time Protection Options uncheck Turn on real-time protection
  • Select Save
Don't forget to re-enable it, when your computer is clean.
----------------------------------------------
Delete bad services
Please copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the following text in the quote to Notepad. Save it as "All Files" and name it FixServices.bat
Please save it on your desktop.

@echo off
sc stop "Windows Network Data Management System Service"
sc delete "Windows Network Data Management System Service"
exit

Double click FixServices.bat. A window will open and close. This is normal.
----------------------------------------------
FIX HIJACKTHIS ENTRIES

Open up Hijackthis.
Click on do a system scan only.
Place a checkmark next to these lines(if still present).

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
O6 - HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O6 - HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present << Fix these 2 lines if you didn't set these restrictions

O23 - Service: Windows Network Data Management System Service (BNDMSS) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\bndmss.exe

Then close all windows except Hijackthis and click Fix Checked
Close HijackThis.
----------------------------------------------
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
  • The log can also be found here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt
  • Post that log back here.
----------------------------------------------
Post back:
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware report.

Hello Peter41,

I carried out the plan successfully, but the Trojan is still there (+ another one - low risk)

Do you refer to Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.31 results?

Or the part i posted below?
----------------------------------------------
viewtopic.php?p=388975#p388975

It looks you missed doing the Delete bad services part.

Please do it, following exactly my instructions, then fix these lines:
----------------------------------------------
FIX HIJACKTHIS ENTRIES

Open up Hijackthis.
Click on do a system scan only.
Place a checkmark next to these lines(if still present).

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O23 - Service: Windows Network Data Management System Service (BNDMSS) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\bndmss.exe

Then close all windows except Hijackthis and click Fix Checked
Close HijackThis.
