HELP WITH MALWARE REMOVAL

My laptop has been very slow recently, and then unwanted pop ups started. Requested websites will be redirected to unwanted "casino", registry cleaning websites, antivirus websites etc. I have had the computer formatted but the problem still persists. The automatic updates button will not turn on even though it is set to automatic. I can hardly get to desired websites and computer freezes mostly on startup.

As I am still on training, everything that I post to you, must be checked by a Teacher. Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts, but it shouldn't be too long.
  • Whatever repairs we make, are for fixing your computer problems only and by no means should be used on another computer.

Upload a File to Virustotal
Please visit Virustotal
  • Copy and Paste the following quotebox into the Upload a File box:
    C:\Documents and Settings\EBEN\Local Settings\Temp\prun.exe
  • Click the Send button
  • Copy and paste the results back here please.
    C:\Documents and Settings\EBEN\Local Settings\Temp\winvsnet.exe


Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
    The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\<User name>\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt

Hi,
things went so bad with the computer when i got home. It wouldn't even load the internet and the viruses kept changing settings. I got so frustrated I formatted the computer. I have run a new hijackthis log below after formatting. This may set you back. Like I said earlier, I connect to the internet via a router.

Hi
I understand how frustrating malware is, but reformatting is usually only a last resort. However, this does mean that you are clean, there are just a few housekeeping tasks to perform:

You Java is out-of-date
Please download JavaRa and unzip it to your desktop.

  • Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program.
  • Click on Remove Older Versions to remove the older versions of Java installed on your computer.
  • Click Yes when prompted. When JavaRa is done, a notice will appear that a logfile has been produced. Click OK.
  • A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location.


Then download and install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 7.

Dell's MyWay process can be removed to free up resources without compromising system performance. Although not technically malware, it is thought to be bad by many experts and it will bring malware with it. For more information see Home Page and/or Speedbar? and My Way Uninstaller.

  • Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
  • Install the program, then start it.
  • Scroll down the list and click My Way Search Assistant entry.
  • Click the Remove button.
MyWay is a Browser Helper Object (BHO) for the MyWay Search Assistant / SpeedBar which has been installed on most newer DELL machines. Some people claim it is spyware; others insist it is not. You can read the Official information From Dell (and you can do a web-search to find more or alternative views).

If, after researching the matter, you decide you want to remove it, see Dell's Instruction For Removing MyWay.
There are safer alternatives available such as the Google toolbar. If you do not use this, I recommend that you remove it. Please follow the Removal instructions. Item(s) to fix in HijackThis:

Post a New HJT Log
Reboot your computer. Start HijackThis. Click Do System Scan and Save a Log File.
When the Scan is complete, select the whole log (Ctrl-A), copy and paste the log contents in a reply.
