browser completely highjacked...losing my mind

Unread postby sringelberg » September 8th, 2008, 6:53 am

My internet browser (firefox) is sending information (all the time) to ad companies ... I can see in the lower left side that it sends information to sites like "doubleclick" constantly. In addition when I click on a search result it either sends me somewhere else or it tells me that the site is not there. I can reach most websites by typing in (or copy and paste) the website from the bottom of the search listing, however, sites like this one can not be gotten to at all....I get an box telling me it is not there. I am only able to communicate with you now because I am using my husbands mac...which of course is working perfectly....

I have done the following... deleted and reinstalled firefox, installed and updated McAfee, and run the programs, spybot, and ad-aware...none of which fixed the issue. I also ran hijacked...but I ran ad-aware and reinstalled firefox after so..not sure if I should run hijacked again before sending you the file. Please help me before I take a sledgehammer to my computer...(or a family member.) :help:
