Turtledove,

A quick question. When I updated my Adobe shockwave program, it appears to have included a Norton antivirus program. I don't really want more anti-virus security programs. I have Macafee. Can I remove it without screwing something up?

Hello sdg3stannic,

Thank you. Log is clean.

A quick question. When I updated my Adobe shockwave program, it appears to have included a Norton antivirus program. I don't really want more anti-virus security programs. I have Macafee. Can I remove it without screwing something up?

I do not see Norton in your log. Try the following to check and install Shockwave without it:
Does Norton Anti Virus show here: Start-->> Control Panel-->> Add/Remove Programs OR in C:\Program Files?
You do Not Need Norton installed to use Shockwave.
Try uninstalling the Adobe Shockwave.
Then reinstall Shockwave, check all the installation windows for any already check marked boxes that Include Extra Programs Not wanted. Make sure to uncheck them before continuing the installing of the Shockwave program.

***Note, many programs auto check boxes for additional items to install. Always read End user license, check for auto checked boxes carefully. They hope most will not bother to read and check that. Doing so will keep many added toolbars and such from being added.

If all is running well now please do the following:
Some housecleaning and future suggestions to stay clean

**Turn off System Restore.**
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    Click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
    Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer

Turn ON System Restore
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    Click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
    Un-Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

The following is information to help minimize problems in the future.
***Please Copy/Print for reference when you need new Anti Virus/Firewall/Anti spyware.
