Max Memory, Malware, & AVG

I seem to be having a problem with my AVG 8.0 . Right now is using between 70-85% of my CPU and no scan is running. I've previously uninstalled it and reinstalled; it will work fine after a reboot, but once my computer's screen saver/hibernation kicks in and i return to my computer, it starts hogging all my memory.

I wanted to see if there was something that could be on my computer. I'm a very new user to Hijack This, so i'm not sure how to interpret the log it provided.

Could anyone be of assistance? Thank you.

Have you tried another AVs than AVG?

I used to have McAfee that came installed with my laptop, it was prone to memory leaks and would hog somewhere around 25%-45%.

the AVG was working well for the past 3 weeks or so, its just in the last week that I've been having problems. I figured it might be something else that is causeing the issue that AVG and/or McAfee weren't picking up on.

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
4. Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
   Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
   Archives
   
5. Click on My Computer under Scan.
6. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
7. You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
8. Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
9. Please post this log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
