Welcome to the MWR forums. My name is peku006. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can take a while to research. Please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:

1. If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
2. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic. Please stay at one forum for help.
3. Please continue reading posts until I give the All Clear. It is important to note this, as a clean looking HijackThis is not always a sign your system is clean.

Note: I am still in training here at Malware Removal, however I will be working under the direct supervision of one of our Malware Experts. Any recommendations will first be approved before being given to you. Because of this, there may be a short delay in getting our responses to you, however be assured that we will be working diligently on your problem.

Hi kbaum1

Your computer has been infected by a backdoor trojan.

This is bad news.
Backdoors are the worst type of infection because a backdoor gives intruders complete control of your computer, and can log your keystrokes, steal personal information, credit card numbers, etc.

Due to its backdoor functionality, your computer is very likely to have been compromised and there is no way that it can be trusted in its current state. Most experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be to do a format and reinstallation of the operating system. This is the only way to be 100% sure the computer is clean. However, if you do not wish to reinstall your OS and would like to attempt to clean your machine, I will help you do so.

You are strongly advised to do the following:
  • Disconnect the computer from the Internet and from any networked computers until it has been cleaned.
  • Back up all your important data except programs. The programs can be reinstalled back from the original disc or from the Net.
  • If you have ever used this computer for shopping, banking, or any other financial transactions, then:
Call all your banks, financial institutions, credit card companies and inform them that you may be a victim of identity theft and put a watch on your accounts. If you don't mind the hassle, change all your account numbers.
  • From a clean computer, change all your passwords (ISP login password, your email address(es) passwords, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, Amazon, online groups and forums and any other online activities you carry out which require a username and password).

Do not change your passwords from the infected computer as the attacker will be able to get all the new passwords and transaction records.

To help you understand more, I recommend you take the time to read the following articles:
What are Remote Access Trojans and why are they dangerous
How do I respond to a possible identity theft and how do I prevent it
When should do a reformat and reinstallation of my OS
Where to backup your files
How to backup your files in Windows XP
Restoring your backups

Should you have any questions feel free to ask.

Let me know in your next post if you have decided to format and reinstall the computer, or if you wish to clean it instead.

Thanks
peku006

Due to Lack of response this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
