It's hard to give a definitive answer on any visible symptoms, there may be strange network activity, redirections on the internet, popups......etc. It may also act quietly, logging keystrokes when certain websites are visited, unfortunately the potential for damage is limitless. A backdoor trojan allows somebody else the ability to take complete control of a computer, since the backdoor was on your computer it's impossible to know exactly what has been done or what settings have been changed.
