OK, I'll get a copy of that file from you and look at it

Upload a File
Download suspicious file packer from here

Unzip it to desktop, open it & paste in the list of files below, press next & it will create an archive (zip/cab file) on desktop

C:\Qoobox\Quarantine\c\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\readme.bat.vir

Go to spykiller

Please start a new thread and give the following information
  • Name:-- tropics
  • E-mail:-- Your E-mail (this is confidential and will not be displayed)
  • Subject:-- ReadMe bat for Katana
In the main text window please put the following link
http://www.malwareremoval.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=30547
you may also add any comments you wish
then press attach and upload the zip/cab file that was created.

Files can be uploaded by anybody but not downloaded at all except for those users that have been given special permissions.
You DO NOT need to be a member to upload, anybody can upload the files

Now then, that last log looks fine, how are things running now ?
Please can you post a fresh HJT log so I can see what is set to auto-start at the moment.

The file that you uploaded was designed to start other files running.
These files are not on your machine any more, so there is nothing to worry about.

Now, this PDF file .... Have you got a copy of it on your machine now ?
If so please upload a copy to your existing thread at The SpyKiller

Download Winpatrol It is an excellent startup manager and then some !!

Install Winpatrol, and when running click on the Startup Programs tab
The following items can safely be disabled.

[TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
[RemoteControl] "C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\PDVDServ.exe"

hi

well the enviroment is still slow but I guess I have too many softwares to run smooth and memory usage is not optimised

A strange thing happened on my last Antivirus scan, there was a System file that I was not able to isolate, move to chest or repair or delete, but was not a virus or worm, the only things I could do was ignore it but the source was odd as it said Civil Defence,

the log from the report: File C:\hiberfil.sys is infected by Civil Defense-6672, Delete: Error 0xC0000022 {Access Denied}, Delete: Error 0xC0000022 {Access Denied}, Move to chest: Error 0xC0000022 {Access Denied}, Move
any clues?

The PDF, was probably a dowload I did in the past but I cannot understand how every few days there is a new file appearing in the Mozzilla downloads and how I can stop it from running it automatically I will google the author and contact him I guess.

thanks a milion I would have been lost without you,I am very grateful and will pay more attention in the future.

That is very curious, the hiberfil.sys is the log that windows saves when your machine goes into hibernation.
I don't see how that could be infected without the infection being active.

Please do the following .....

1. Open the Windows Control Panel.
2. Double-click Power Options.
3. Click the Hibernate tab, de-select the 'Enable hibernate support' check box, and then click Apply.
4. Restart your computer and hiberfil.sys will be automatically deleted.

Here is some general info on slow computers
http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miek ... puter.html

As for the PDF, I have no idea why it should be continuing to download.
Did you download it through a web browser ie IE or FireFox ?
If so it may be worth clearing the download cache, see if that stops it.

Right, let's do some heavy scans

Download and Run SR Engineer
Please download SREng.
  • Extract it to your desktop.
  • Double click SREng.exe to run it.
  • Select Smart Scan and tick Verify Digital Signatures.
  • Click on the Scan button.
  • When finished click on the Save Reports button and save the log to your desktop.

Please Download GMER to your desktop

Please create a folder in the Program Files folder called GMER.

Download GMER and extract it to the C:\program files\GMER folder you have just made.

Run the Gmer.exe program by double-clicking the executable file gmer.exe.
You may be prompted to scan immediately if GMER detects rootkit activity.

If you are prompted to scan your system click "yes" to begin the scan.
If you are not prompted, Click the "Rootkit" tab, then click "Scan".

DO NOT touch the PC at ALL for Whatever reason/s until it has 100% completed its scan, or attempted scan in case of some error etc !

At the end of the scan, click "Copy" to copy the scan results to the clipboard. Save the log as Gmer.txt on your desktop

GetSystemInfo

Please download GetSystemInfo from HERE
Double click GetSysteminfo.exe
It will ask you where to save the report, please save it to your desktop or somewhere that you can find it easily.
It will display it's progress on your screen, when the box disappears it has finished.

Logs/Information to Post in Reply
Please post the following logs/Information in your reply
  • SREng Log
  • GMER Log
  • GetSystemInfo Log

These tools will produce Very Big logs, create a folder on your desktop and put all the logs into it.
Right-Click the folder and select Send to >> Compressed folder please attach the compressed folder to your reply
