Hi

Please delete the SDFix icon and Smitfraudfix folder from your Desktop, if they are still present.

Navigate to and delete the following file and folder:

File:
C:\Documents and Settings\jack\My Documents\audio\SmitfraudFix.exe

Folder:
C:\SDFix


Open Firefox then go to Tools and select Clear Private Data and when it is finished, close Firefox.

Then go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Cleanup and select the drive you wish to clean up, if asked, which is C. It will be analysed first, and when it is finished you will see a list. Anything needing cleaned should be auto-checked. press OK.


You may wish to keep hold of the Kaspersky Online Scan as an extra on-demand virus-scanner.
If not you can uninstall it through Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs


Now post back with a new HijackThis log, and let me know if you are still having any problems.

Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present):

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = about:blank
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UserFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -u

WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.


Congratulations, you appear to be malware free.

First we need to flush your System Restore points after ridding yourself of malware:

  • Click Start | Help and Support | Undo changes to your computer with System Restore.
  • Click Create A Restore Point then click Next. Give it a name it and then click Create, then Close.
  • Close the Help and Support Center box.
  • Click Start | Run and type Cleanmgr
  • Select (C: ) then click OK.
  • Click the More Options tab.
  • Click Clean Up in the System Restore Section.

This will remove all previous restore points except the newly created one.

1 - Update Adobe Reader
Earlier versions of Adobe Reader have known security flaws so it is recommended that you update your copy
  • Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
  • Remove ALL instances of Adobe Reader
  • Re-boot your computer as required.
  • Once ALL versions of Adobe Reader have been uninstalled, visit: http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/acrobat/readstep2.html and download the latest version of Adobe Reader
OR, after uninstalling Adobe Reader, you could try installing Foxit Reader from >here<
Foxit Reader has fewer add-ons therefore loads more quickly.


Delete the older versions of Java and download the newest.
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.
  1. Close any programmes you may have running, ESPECIALLY your web browser
  2. Click Start > Control Panel.
  3. Click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  5. Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  6. Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
  7. Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
Then download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) (4th one down the list), which is JRE6u5, and click Yes at the page warning. Under "Platform" select Windows, then check the box to accept the Licence Agreement. Click Yes at the second page warning before downloading the Offline file.


Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a good program to keep. If you wish to keep it, use it to do a quick scan once a week and keep it updated.
Remember, only the paid for version offers real-time protection

Make sure your Windows is ALWAYS up to date!

An unpatched Windows is vulnerable and even with the "best" Antivirus and Firewall installed, malware will find its way through.
So visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ to download and install the latest updates.


Update your Antivirus programs and other security products regularly to avoid new threats that could infect your system.
