Hi!
I'm posting my Hijackthis log file, as I have something called zheltaya_hernya appering under the IE address bar every time I open a website. I followed the steps listed in the "New to this board" section and I am currently using the Kaspersky and Spybot programmes. Nothing has helped so far! I would appreciate all of your tips/help/suggestions!

Hi fred_sinns,

I note you are using the BitComet file sharing program. This program does not come bundled with malware as some similar programs do, but peer-to-peer file sharing networks are one of the biggest sources of malware we see. Anything downloaded from them cannot be trusted to be clean, because even if the file appears to be what it claims to be, it can have malware embedded in it.
I recommend you remove it, but of course the choice is yours.
You can remove BitComet Start->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs.

If you choose to keep it, please do not use it while we are working on your computer.


Temporarily disable Trojanhunter Guard

• Find the Trojanhunter Guard icon in the lower right corner of your screen - it's is a light blue magnifying glass icon with a red handle
• Right click it and select Settings
• Uncheck Load at startup and Enabled

Temporarily disable Spybot's TeaTimer. This is a two step process.
First:

• Right click Spybot in the System Tray (looks like a calendar with a padlock symbol)
• Choose Exit Spybot S&D Resident

Second:

• Open Spybot S&D
• Click Mode, check Advanced Mode
• Go To Left Panel, Click Tools, then also in left panel, click Resident
• If your firewall raises a question, say OK
• Uncheck the box labeled Resident TeaTimer and OK any prompts.
• Use File, Exit to terminate Spybot.
• Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.

Then, open HijackThis, choose Do a system scan only and place a checkmark next to the following lines:

Then close all open windows apart from HijackThis, press Fix checked, OK the prompt and close HijackThis.

Now reboot your computer

Make hidden/system files and folders visible:
Click Start -> My Computer
Select the Tools menu, click Folder Options and select the View tab
Under the Hidden files and folders heading SELECT Show hidden files and folders
UNCHECK the Hide extensions for known file types option
UNCHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option
Click Yes to confirm and press OK


Use Windows Explorer (right-click Start, select Explore) to find and delete the following file:

C:\WINDOWS\dxpvqlmqng.dll

If it is not present then that's OK but if you have trouble deleting it, please let me know in your next response.


Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS)

• Close all applications and windows.
• Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
• When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
• Make sure Format->Word Wrap is unchecked
• Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your reply

Once complete, please post both DSS logs, you won't need to produce a new HijackThis log as DSS produces one for you.
