I've an avid user of Hijackthis and anti-virus, and Ad-Aware. I recently started having some strange audio comming from my computer randomly. It sounds like the radio or tv comercials. I've eradicated just about everything that I can think of that don't belong however this sucker seems to come back out of nowhere. "Travian" is an online browser game that I have played for quite some time now, and Im using a custom graphics pack so it is listed as a trusted site. Ad-Aware will scan but when it is about half way done, it comes up with a "crashed" window. Mcafee don't find anything but the standard cookies. This audio that seems to be the radio or something, isnt detected by my firewall and whatever this is seems to be abusing my internet connection. Mcafee does seem to be blocking "most" of the pop-up banners, now and again something will come though. I'm thinking this started when my kids installed some game they saw on TV knowing good-n-well it would be butt-whoopin time! :P Anyhow, I'm at my wits end here and I've got no idea where to go from here. Anyone seen this before?

First of all, you are using an older version of HijackThis. Please do the following to download and install the latest version of HijackThis v2.0.2:

CLICK HERE to download the HijackThis Installer:
  1. Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  2. Double-click on HJTInstall.exe to run the program.
  3. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
  4. Accept the license agreement by clicking the "I Accept" button.
  5. Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
  6. Click "Save log" to save the log file and then the log will open in Notepad.
  7. Click on "Edit -> Select All" then click on "Edit -> Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  8. Come back here to this thread and paste the log in your next reply.
  9. Do NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet! Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.


You may delete the older version once you have successfully downloaded and installed the latest version of HijackThis v2.0.2.

Go to start > control panel > Display properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop... > Web tab
Uncheck and delete everything you find in there. (except for "My current home page")

Delete this file:

C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\profsydyr.html

Restart

Post a new HijackThis log & let me if the problems persist
