Hi,

It was such a relief to find your site. It's made it so much easier for me to determine if my systems are down. I currently help manage 10 PCs and 4macs in my church and 3 maybe 4 are infected with the worm.VBS.solow. I need help! Would appreciate any advice and help you have to help combat this outbreak on my hands. We use thumbdrives a lot and our Norton recently expired which is when this started. Just installed Kaspersky temporarily.

This is the first system log for the first PC.

Thanks so much!!!
Su

Hello suonfire. :)

Welcome to Malware Removal Forum. My name is mayi and I will be helping you. As I am still an undergraduate, I will need my fixes checked before posting back to you. Thank you for your patience.

Hi suonfire,

Have you uninstalled Norton? If yes, please follow this site to uninstall Norton completely.

If no, please go to Start > Control Panel and double click on Add/Remove Programs. Uninstall all Norton products you see in Add/Remove Programs, restarting the computer when prompted.

Please also disconnect this computer from the network if it is connected to the church's network to prevent infections from spreading.

You will also need to post logs from the other computers to check that they are not infected. These computers shouldn't be connected to the network as well.

One queston: Is Qala providing the church with internet services?

Step 1

  1. Open HijackThis.
  2. Click on the Open the Misc Tools section button.
  3. Look under System tools.
  4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
  5. Click on the Save list... button.
  6. It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
  7. Notepad will open. Please post this log in your next reply.

Step 2

Please download Combofix from Tech Support Forum or Bleeping Computer. Save it to your desktop.

Double click to run it. Follow the prompts. Once done, it will reboot and a log will be produced. Please post that log and a new HijackThis log in your next reply.

Do not mouse click on Combofix while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

In your next reply, please post back:

  1. The Uninstall list
  2. Combofix log (C:\Combofix.txt)
  3. A new HijackThis log
  4. Whether Qala is providing the church internet services
