Need Help Removing Google Toolbar Look-Alike Trojan

Unread postby wagner » June 23rd, 2007, 2:01 pm

Hi,

I'm a newbie to this forum and appreciate the help that is offered here.

My computer got attacked by a trojan that looks like a notice from Google toolbar. This notice keeps popping up only on Firefox. I can't use Firefox any longer because of it.

Here are some steps I've already taken to attempt to remove it:

1. Accessed HijackThis. Here's the report:

2. Checked my computer out with Ewido and it says my computer is clean.

3. Used several other antivirus scanners -- like Trojan Hunter, Avast Pro, AVG and Bitdefender. They all come back clean.

4. Completely scanned my computer with AVG in safe mode and it came back clean.

5. Removed all files relating to the Google Toolbar on my computer.

6. Removed Firefox and re-installed it twice. Google Toolbar notice keeps coming up anyway.

7. Removed all files relating to mozilla and firefox on my computer.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hello and welcome to Malware Removal

My name is Katana and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

Please note that I am training, this means that any reply I give to you has to be checked first by an expert.
I apologize for any delay this might cause.

Please observe these rules while we work:
1. If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
2. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
3. Please continue to respond until I give you the "All Clear"
(Just because you can't see a problem doesn't mean it isn't there)

If you can do those three things, everything should go smoothly :D

I apologise for the delay in responding, but as you can probably see the forums are quite busy
and somtimes a post manages to slip by us.
Unfortunately there are far more people needing help than there are helpers.

If you still require help please post a fresh Hijack This log to this thread.
I will be notified and I will get back to you ASAP.

Also, do you have any idea when this problem started ?
