playing video opens web page

Hi, recently i've dl'd some video files which, when played, opens my web browser to a web page.
Anyone know anything about this?
I, of course, tried googling, but I couldn't think of search terms that would give results.

Thanks

I did finally find a very small amount of info using the search string 'embedded hyperlink video' on google.
It is in fact being used as advertising.
I do see plenty of opportunity for abuse of it though.
Now I'm going to have to search for info on preventing these hyperlinks from opening.
I will post results here if there is any interest.

Thanks
