Register to Remove

Unread postby John B. » February 23rd, 2007, 9:08 am

Hi! :hello2: and welcome to the Malware Removal forums.
My name is John Brouwer - if it helps, you can call me John for short. I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

HijackThis logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me. I know that you need
your computer working as quickly as possible, and I will work hard to help see that happens.
I am currently looking over your log. As I am a trainee, everything that I post to you must be checked by an Admin or Moderator. Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts, but it shouldn't be too long. I will post back shortly with a potential fix.

Please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
  • I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Finally, please make a uninstall list using HijackThis
    To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

    1. Start HijackThis
    2. Click on the Config button
    3. Click on the Misc Tools button
    4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.

    You will now be presented with a screen similar to the one below:

    Image

    5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here in a reply.

Greets, John.

Hi Nicky17,

One main infection called LOP. We should be able to remove it with the tool NoLop :)

Step 1: Download and Run NoLop
Download NoLop.exe to your Desktop.
  • First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
  • Double click NoLop.exe to run it.
  • Now click the button labelled "Search and Destroy"
    <<your computer will now be scanned for infected files>>
  • When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
  • Now click the "REBOOT" Button.
  • A Message should popup from NoLop. If not, double click the program again and it will finish.
  • Please post the contents of C:\NoLop.log later.

Note: If you receive an error, "mscomctl.ocx or one of its dependencies are not correctly registered," please download mscomctl.ocx to C:\WINDOWS\system32\ folder then rerun the program.

Step 2: Upload a File to Virustotal
Also one unknown file which is probably bad but I'd like to know that for sure.
Please visit Virustotal
* Click the Browse... button
* Navigate to the file C:\windows\system32\rvaeimqtxb.exe
* Click the Open button
* Click the Send button
* Copy and paste the results back here please together with C:\NoLop.log, a fresh HijackThis log and the uninstall log if you haven't posted it yet.

Greets, John.

Hi, you can go on with the steps because they are not depending on which AV/Firewall you have :)

Hi Nicky,

Removing malware and then restoring the system to a point where you was infected isn't a really smart idea but it was the only solution. Lets run NoLop again to see if you're infected again.

Step 2: Upload a file to TonyKlein
Please go to this forum

There's no need to register. Just start a new topic, titled "File for TonyKlein".

In the topic, simply refer to this --- forum thread, and use the Attachment box to upload the file.

In fact there's not even a need to actually browse to the file: just copy the full path to the file, in this case:

C:\windows\system32\rvaeimqtxb.exe

... and paste it in in the attachment box, then press the 'Post' button. The file will be found and uploaded. Please save the link to the SpyKiller topic for me.

NOTE: You will not see the files that have been uploaded (including the ones you upload yourself) as they only show to the authorised users who can download them

Step 3: Download and Run Blacklight
Download F-Secure Blacklight (blbeta.exe) to the desktop from here.

Open it and click Accept Agreement.
Click Scan.
After the scan is complete, click Next, then Exit.
It will create a log on the desktop named fsbl-xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx will be the date and time of the scan)
Save the log to your desktop.

Step 4: Post logs
* C:\NoLop.log
* The link to the SpyKiller topic
* The Blacklight log
* A fresh HJT log

Greets, John.
