I think I have a big problem with a trojan

Unread postby Cinemático » January 5th, 2007, 3:57 am

Hi. Thanks in advance for your help.

Today I found that I have a process running in my computer that I'd never seen before: "Xpupdate". I suspect that this has something to do with the problems I'm having trying to open MSExcel and MSWord files, actually I can't open any of them.

I did some research in the web and I found that my computer is probably infected with a trojan, but I don't know exactly of which kind. I have the "xpupdate.exe" file in my C:\Windows folder and the "install.dat" file in the C:\Windows\Application Data folder, so I know I'm in trouble.

I came across with your web site and follow all the instructions: downloaded and run the HJT and now I'm running the Panda Active Scan.

Here's my HJT log. ¿What should I do?
