When I open my Inernet explorere browser, the homepage is redirected to http://thesafetytool.com/ who tell me I'm infected and I must install some kind of software (pest trap, spy heal, etc)...

I install PC cilin Trend Micro internet security 2007, but the redirect still function.

Hi clanta, Welcome to MalWare Removal !!

Please create a folder on your C:\ and give it a name (example:HJT)
Download HijackThis 1.99.1© by Merijn
Unzip it in the folder you just created

HijackThis examines certain key areas of the Registry and Hard Drive and lists their contents. These are areas which are used by both legitimate programmers and malicious hijackers

Click on HijackThis.exe
Put a check in "Don't show this frame again when I start HijackThis" at the bottom
Click "None of the above, just start the program"
Click on the Scan button
It will scan your system Do Not remove anything with HiJackThis until instructed!
When finished, Click the Save Log button and save the log to the file you put HijackThis.exe in.
Double-click the log and Copy then Paste the entire contents here
After the log is posted I can then help you more efficiently !!

Thank you !

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure

I need you to download some programs to aide in our fix :Do Not Run Them Yet

Download SmitfraudFix© by S!Ri to your Desktop.

Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune

Download and Install AVG Anti-Spyware© by Grisoft

Launch AVG Anti-Spyware, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update AVG Anti-Spyware to the latest definition files.
On the main screen select the icon Update then select the Update now link
Next select the Start Update button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
Close AVG Anti-Spyware

Reboot to Safe mode
Restart your computer and begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard just before Windows starts to load
If done right a Windows Advanced Options menu will appear.
Select the Safe Mode option and press Enter

Double-click smitfraudfix.exe
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert you
You will be prompted : Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll
Answer Yes to the question Replace infected file ? by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if your computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually
Reboot back into Safe mode

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF Cleaner.exe
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program

Run AVG Anti-Spyware
Click on Scanner at top
Click on Settings
Once in the Settings screen click on Recommended actions and then select Quarantine
Under Reports, Select Automatically generate report after every scan
Un-Select Only if threats were found
Select the Scanner icon at the top and then the Scan tab then click on Complete System Scan
AVG Anti-Spyware will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time
Once the scan is complete do the following :
If you have any infections you will prompted, then select Apply all actions
Next select the Reports icon at the top.
Select the Save report as button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).
Now close AVG Anti-Spyware

Reboot into Normal Mode

Post a fresh HijackThis log, the contents of the rapport.txt file, and the AVG Anti-Spyware log here
(You may need to use several replies as the logs may be cut off)

Thank you !

OMG... the pop-up didn't function... Help!

Not sure what you mean !!?? :?

As you can see in the AVG Antispyware log it flagged a couple of the Poker games. They may possibly have contributed to your infection !
My suggestion is that you go to Add/Remove in Control Panel and Uninstall the following :

Absolute Poker
gamingclubMPP and/or Club Dice Poker
CDPoker
PartyGaming
Noble Poker

Some Safe alternatives are :

PokerStars.net
PokerRoom.com

Lets run one final scan :
Please run Panda's ActiveScan and perform a full system scan.
Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button (be sure to disable your popup blocker first )
A new window will open...click the big Check Now button
Enter your Country
Enter your State/Province
Enter your e-mail address and click send
Select either Home User or Company
Click the big Scan Now button
If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a couple minutes)
Click on Local Disks to start the scan
Click on see report Then click Save report

Post a fresh HijackThis log along with the Panda Active Scan log here and let me know how your system is running now !

Hi, you said:

"Lets run one final scan :

That's what I want to say earlier!!!

The popup window didn't function... any program who must open a new window, don't work...
with other words, that is like the pop up blocker is ON anytime...

FOR THAT REASON I cannot run freescan of Panda.

Thanks

Open Control Panel
Click on Internet options
Click on the privacy tab at the top
Uncheck the Block Popups on the bottom
Click on Apply then OK
Close Internet options

Also check your settings for your ParentalFilter as well

I have open panda software page, but when I click on "checkyour PC online" icon, nothing happens... It's like it isn't active or no link to go...

I go to free download section... I enter my email, country no. of PC, home user, etc... but when I click on "send" button... nothing happens!

I don't understand at all...

OK you are not the only one having problems with Panda it seems. Lets try this one :

Run Kaspersky WebScanner
Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner
You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
Extended (if available otherwise Standard)

Scan Options:
Scan Archives
Scan Mail Bases

Click OK

Now under select a target to scan:
Select My Computer

Then the program will start and scan your system.
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save as Text button:
Save the file to your desktop.

Reboot, run HijackThis and post a fresh HijackThis Log and the Kaspersky Virus Scan Log here

Thank You !!
