Disk defragmenter cannot continue prescan- Log inside

When i try to defragment my external HD, i get this message^ but defragging my internal c drive is fine.

any ideas?

You look clean - so its not malware.

I sugest you reset your restore points.

Turn them off.
Reboot
Turn them back on

Do all that while the external drive is connected.

Then retry the defrag program.

We are speciallists - not general computer experts - I suggest you try either PCPitstop (from the ASAP list at the top of this forum) or http://forum.computertrouble.co.uk

They both have general computer experts in many fields - so hopefully one of them would have an answer for you.
