Heh... ok... try this.

    * Click Scan for Vundo button.
    * Once the scan is complete, Right Click inside the listbox (white box) and click add more files
    * Copy&Paste the 2 entries below into the top 2 boxes

    o C:\WINDOWS\system32\geebx.dll
    o C:\WINDOWS\system32\xbeeg.*

    * Click Add Files and Click Close Window
    * Click the Remove Vundo button.
    Image
    * You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
    * Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
    * When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
    * Turn your computer back on.
    * Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Hmmm... might be something else we can't see interfering with the fix.

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Copy/paste the following quotebox into a new notepad document.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_USERS\.default\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run]
"Microsoft Video Capture Controls"=-

Save it to your desktop as fixme.reg. Save it as File Type All Files(not as a text document). Double click fixme.reg and answer yes when asked to merge it into the registry.

Click Start>Run and copy the following bold text into the run box and click Enter:

"C:\Documents and Settings\Jason Rucker\Desktop" /v geebx

Reboot and post a new HijackThis log please.

I tried saving the paste as all files and double clicked on the saved file but the notepad just opened up again. And it looked like it only saved as text even though I changed it to all files. I dont know really, but I tried saving it again and when the window opened it was on save as text even after I had already saved it as all files. Bottom line is I couldnt get it to work, the first part anyway.

OK... Search for and delete this folder:

C:\20041806_223552_Jason Rucker\C\WINNT\Temp\Altnet

Run and scan with HijackThis. PLace checks beside the following:

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit and Save it to your desktop.

  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • End Explorer Shell While Killing File
    • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\abcxx.chm
    C:\WINNT\system32\geebx.dll
    C:\WINNT\system32\winjvd32.dll

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

Reboot and post a new HijackThis log please.

Had another one of these today where Vundo was being extremely stubborn. Was able to use combofix to unload it. When I tried that earlier with you I made a mistake in my command.

Do you still have combofix downloaded to your Desktop?
