Search redirector and gets kicked out of cleaner programs

My son went to some sites he should not have gone to (joys of being 13!) and downloaded something from somewhere. I just found out and it has been infected for about 30 days. Unfounately, I know nothing about getting rid of viruses and a friend suggested you guys (hope you can help). I went thru the entire malware removal procedures suggested but kept getting kicked out of Spybot, AVG, & F-Secure. Anyway, the problems are every search causes a redirect to some other site but after third attempt goes to correct one. Second problem is I tried to add dogpile to the IE browser "add a search" but it won't add anything. Finally, occasionally, the cursor will just start to slow go left on its own. I now have 4 or 5 anti programs downloaded (ones you suggested) but still have problems. This computer is connected to a router to my computer if that helps. I basically don't mind non-hurting programs like games but don't want the other crap. I just wish the people with the talent to create the vir
