Hi b2thej1.
Please do the following.

Go to Start, Run
type cmd
A window will come up.
In the window, Type chkdsk c: /F
System will have message saying it cannot do this because the drive is in use, and ask if you want to do it at reboot. Say YES.
Reboot the system.
It will make repairs when it reboots.

Next.

Check Hard Disk For Errors
Press Start->Run, then copy/paste the following command into the box and press OK:

cmd /c chkdsk c: |find /v "percent" >> "%userprofile%\desktop\checkhd.txt"

A blank command window will open on your desktop, then close in a few minutes. This is normal.
A file icon named checkhd.txt should appear on your Desktop. Please post the contents of this file.

Please post the new checkhd.txt log.

other than the powering off the pc seems to be running fine...this pc was given to me by a church member whose daughter had used it for her schoolwork in biology...there are a lot of papers on here somewhere but i cant find them to delete them
i thought maybe you could help me it would grant me more space and i definitely dont need the papers etc i'm mos def not

Unfortunately without known exactly what these papers are i wouldn't be able to help you locate them.
Can you maybe ask the person who owned the PC before you?, they should be able to help you locate them.
As for your powering of issue i can direct you to a tech site where they can better advise you than myself.

This is my general post for when your logs show no more signs of malware.

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Time for some housekeeping

• Click on Start >> Run...
• Now type in ComboFix /Uninstall into the box and click OK.
• Note the space between the X and the /Uninstall, it needs to be there.
  

The above procedure will reset your System Restore and clear out the backups and quarantines created during the course of this fix.

Next

You can now delete any tools we used if they remain on your Desktop.

Protection Programs
Don't forget to re-enable any protection programs we disabled during your fix.

not trying to question your wisdom....but...i went on the tech support forum and read through a couple of threads and the question
that was posed on the forum as well as some other tech support sites on the internet is whether a virus could be causing the power
offs since they mainly took place during virus scans...i know you said i look clean but is there a virus that could be still lurking since i
was never able to get through a scan without the pc just powering itself off? somebody suggested running the scan in safe mode...i dont know how to do that...but what do you think?

A i mentioned all your latest logs were clean so we can rule malware out as the cause of your problem.
The only scans you relay had problems with were the ones that take some time to run.
I suspect your computer may have an overheating problem, and that is why it is powering off.
So as I said above your logs are clean, I hope you can resolve your other problem with the links that I provided.
