That isn't really the case, anything that Kaspersky finds needs to be researched to find out if it is actually a threat or just a nuisance.

Is there a good Anti-Mal/AdWare program for that old of a system?
The AdAware software I've always used on it has stopped being able to run/read new definitions files (error message is it can't read the downloaded update). I've reloaded the software twice to no avail.
Kaspersky used to work on '98 machines, but I'm not sure if it still does.
Super Anti-Spyware runs on '98 machines.
As for AdAware, it has been updated, and the new version may not be compatible.
