I think easiest way to find out here what is going on is to install firewall.

I assume that some file connects to that site sometimes and firewall might help with that.

Install one and tell me if some suspicious file tries to access internet and firewall (and maybe avast!) warns about it.

Looking over your log, it seems you don't have any evidence of a third party firewall.

1) Comodo
2) Online Armor
3) Sunbelt/Kerio

If you are using the built-in Windows XP firewall, it is not recommended as it does not block outgoing connections. This means that any malware on your computer is free to "phone home" for more instructions. Simply put, Windows XP contains a mediocre firewall. This firewall is NO replacement for a dedicated software solution. Remember to use only one firewall at the same time.

i downloaded the firewall thing.
it doesn't seem to pick up the 'problem'. avast still picks up the problem.
is there a mode which i can set comodo to and then it will show u the log file or something?

Go to Firewall and Advanced.

Choose Network Security Policy.

And tell me which applications are listed there.

hey. i noticed tht when i open my msn, there is a pop-up as usual but the location of the temperature is written schenzen, china. i'm in melbourne. i noticed tht long time ago actually. even before i came to ask for help. but now it stills appear that way.

it still happens even if i delete bit torrent.
just so u know, messenger and real player installed stuff into my laptop and was warned by comodo.
i'm not sure what the files are but i just accept it.

Then we do this:

Go to start - run

Type this: notepad C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and click ok

A file should open.

You should see this entry:

127.0.0.1 localhost

Add this entry after that:

127.0.0.1 77.245.61.232

Click Save. And tell me if it helped

hey. i just did what u said. i am not very sure. i added the ip u gave me to a new line and saved it.
but it didn't work. i realise that whenever i close and re-open my browser the warning would appear. could deleting my history work?

i tried the ip thing and clearing my cache.
it seems that the only time the problem occurs is when i open my firefox.
initially it occurs whenever i open a new tab but now it seems to only happen ..
anyway, i think i took enough of ur time and i'm able to live with the state my laptop is in now..
