I also may not have done the system restore correctly, in that I didn't go back to a previous save point. i just turned it off then on again

Tbh, I am confused about this aspect. i guess the system makes a series of points in time that can be gone back to.

But, let's say there are 50 of these, and the trojan got in at checkpoint 35, then do i need to do this
Refresh to 50
still there
Refresh to 49
still there
etc etc?

You are right, I Don't give up easily, especially when this makes me mad that we can't lose it !!

I am only giving you suggestions , but in the long run it is your decision on what to do !

I will exhaust all the options if you are willing to hang in there with me !!

Thought you would be interested to know after all your help that it is finally gone
In the end, i used Bitdefender - which found the trojan and let me delete it.
In fact, when it used the quarantine option it allowed the trojan to keep coming back, but after I set it to delete on finding, it did remove it
First, it was in system32, then after a reboot in teh restore file and lastly in a temp file. However, it's finally gone now and all scnas by other software confirm this.
