do you have the latest patches from windows update site.

There is a vulnerability that was fixed earlier this month which was connected to the wmf type files.

Do a windows update to make sure it is not that.

Do you have a popup blocker active, other than the windows XP one.

It might be the popup blocker telling you it had blocked a popup.
