All the scans we've run so far show there's no real indication of an active infection on your machine, just a few remnants of an earlier "adware" type infection. The kind of instabilities you're describing are not usually associated with these kind of infections, and are much more probably due to one of the following ...

  • Corruption of the OS (Vista), caused by general wear and tear and accumulated "damage" on what is by now quite an old machine.
  • Hardware problems.
  • Overheating

... this forum specialises in Malware removals, and we're not really the best equipped to help you with problems that are not caused by malware. It would probably be best if I recommended one of the forums that specialise in dealing with non-malware related issues, as they are more likely to be able to diagnose and resolve your problems.

The following forums all offer the kind of support you need ...

http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/forum/79 ... windows-7/
http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?s=54227cf0d6abbb3903bd5dd29bed1be3&showforum=119
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/72/windows-vista/
http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/

... and the quality of help at each is usually of a high standard.

If they ask if you've been checked for malware, please feel free to refer them to this topic.
ok. thanks very much for your help
