Yes, be sure to update to that Service pack right away and also do that add-on for Office.
(Windows Updates is available in your Control panel. Always install "important updates". They come out every month).

If you have any trouble with the MS Office setup, you may want to consider installing Libre Office, which is a free suite that will read, write and edit any MS Office file, and is very similar in capability.

If you start OTL again, and click on the CleanUp button, it will remove the tools we used.

Glad we could help clean up your machine.
Going forward, be sure to stay away from the file sharing programs like BitTorrent, uTorrrent, Azureus, etc.
And I don't think I need to remind you to avoid the iLivid toolbar.
Almost all toolbars are for the benefit of the purveyor, not you. Some are just more insidious than others.
My machines have none.

Thanks again for all of your help! I used OTL cleanup and my system seems to be working well now. do you have any recommendations on the best free virus protection? Obviously staying away from illegal sites and not downloading anything fishy is the best protection, but does the specific virus protection program really matter?

Most of the well known Antivirus programs are OK to use, and sufficient.
Microsoft Security Essentials is free and very unobtrusive.
If you change, just be sure that you Uninstall any previous AntiVirus before installing a new one.
You should have only ONE Antivirus installed and possibly ONE antispyware.

An antispyware program is useful as well, since it targets adware and spyware sites that are technically legal, but may be unwanted.
Malwarebytes Antimalware Free is an Anti-spyware program that can be used to scan once a month or so for any potentially unwanted programs.
My usual instruction for that is here if you want it:

Download and Run MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware It is free for non-business use.
Please go here to the Download Location, click on Download in the Free column..
When the next page comes up, click on the Download Now button.

• After clicking on the download and choosing Save, the "Save to location" dialog will come up.
• Click the browse folders button, then click on Desktop on the left as the location for the installer and click Save again. Close the dialog when the download is complete.
• You should now have a desktop icon named mbam-setup.exe. (If the download was saved somewhere else, locate it and copy or move it to your desktop).
• Right click it, choose Run as administrator and Continue
• Let it install where it wants to, with the default settings, and click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. A shield symbol will show on the desktop icon while it is updating, and will disappear when it's done.
• If necessary, start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware again.
  (You can Decline any Offer for a Trial if you don't want the paid version)
• Once the program has started up, select Perform Quick Scan, then click Scan.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• If it found any malware items, check all items except items in the C:\System Volume Information folder... and click Remove Selected.
• When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location, and post the contents in your reply.
• The log can also be found using the "Logs" tab in the program. You can click any "Scan" log listed to open its contents. The logs are listed and named by time/date stamp.

Of course you don't need to post the log from it now. Just read it yourself.
