Unable to install Java opdate 6.21 and 6.22

Hi, I'm worried my computer may be infected. I tried installing the latest Hijackthis but was informed that there is something wrong with windows installer. I am at a loss on what to do since Java reports they are still researching the error 1721. Please help.
