Trojans and browser hijack problems

Hello, I have a problem with my computer, which I believe is related to the Cox internet security Suite I downloaded a couple of years ago. Upon downloading it, I was not happy with the way it performed, so I uninstalled it, but apparently not 100%. Since that time, I have been seeing a screen pop up on my computer every time I start the computer that says: "Security Product could not start on your machine". This sceen requires that I press the "OK" button before another screen pops up saying something like "Security Application could not start. Repair installation?
