Trojan.Vundo. on computer Bitdefender 2009 tries to get rid

Hi. Bitdefender has been an excellent anti-virus program, but I recently updated it to Bitdefender 2009. The new version was having trouble with updating new virus definitions. I wonder if that's why we got this Trojan.Vundo virus. I've done a number of deep system scans in normal and safe mode, and the computer is no longer acting slow, and we are no longer getting the millions of pop-up hoaxes saying terrible things are on our computer. However, Bitdefender keeps finding files infected with Trojan.Vundo. They are usually found in Windows/system32 files. Bitdefender quarantines them. I wish I could just get rid of this virus without having to reformat the hard drive. Thanks for any help.
