Just one last thing: how do I go about deleting the programs I used during this process? Can I simply delete the icons from my desktop, or will I need to uninstall?
Thanks!
You can keep Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, it's a great scanner
OTMoveIt can be uninstalled like this (it will also remove SmitfraudFix) -
Please open
OTMoveIt2.
- Click on the CleanUp! button. If your Firewall gives a warning about OTMoveIt wanting to download a file, allow it.
- Answer Yes to the prompt.
- The program will ask for a reboot. Answer Yes.
Perfect!
Thanks so much for all of your help Simon! I used to think the only solution to a bad virus infection was to wipe the hard drive, but now I know better!!! You time and expertise have been greatly appreciated....thanks again!!!
All the best,
