P.S. How might I close ports using ms dos? Because when I put in netstat -an I see many different connections being established as well as being waited on. I'm pretty sure most are foreign IP Addresses.

You didnt say whether you are running Outpost on it's own or if Symantec has a firewall too in the Suite.

As for closing ports, by default, firewalls close all ports, except for those reserved by Windows. The firewall would ask your permission before allowing an application to open a port.

I would advise updating Adobe Reader, as the latest version clears up any vulnerabilities of previous versions.
First uninstall the version you have on your computer then download and install Adobe Reader 8.1.

I no longer have Outpost Firewall since the trial period started and I don' t think Symactec has a firewall unless it's the auto-protect thing. I have noticed some significant changes for the better since we've started however. Thanks a bunch. Should I post a log after installing newer version of Adobe Reader?

Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present):

WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Go to Start>Control Panel>Security Centre and check which that the Windows firewall is enabled. If it is, read this, for Windows built-in firewall is not very good, especially as it only blocks inbound attempts.

A firewall helps keep attackers at bay and keeps malicious processes from 'calling home'. It is important you install one now.
Check this out for a list of free firewalls. Zone Alarm is considered the easiest to use.

This is my usual speech for when you are clean, which you appear to be.

Please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

• Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows ME or XP then you should disable
  and reenable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

  Re-enable system restore with instructions from tutorial above
  
  
• Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
  
• From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
• Click once on the Security tab
• Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
• Click once on the Custom Level button.
  
  1. Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
     
  2. Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
     
  3. Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
     
  4. Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
     
  5. Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
     
  6. Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
     
  7. When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
     
  8. If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
• Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

Set correct settings for files that should be hidden in Windows XP

• Click Start > My Computer > Tools menu (at top of page) > Folder Options > View tab.
• Under "Hidden files and folders" if necessary select Do not show hidden files and folders.
• If unchecked please checkHide protected operating system files (Recommended)
• If necessary check "Display content of system folders"
• If necessary Uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types.
• Click OK
