Can't remove WinTools from registry-Huntbar remains

Did you try them in safe mode logged in as Administrator?

I don't remember...and not enough time right now to go back and look...do you have your XP disk?

We'll need to change your BIOS settings though, to boot from CD first.

Reboot, tap F2 (or maybe Del) at boot to get into SetUp.
Use R/L Up/Down keys to get to Boot Sequence. At top of SetUp go to Boot then up/down keys and pageup/down to move CDRom to First Boot Device, then put the XP disk in and F10 to exit SetUp saving changes to BIOS.

At prompt, boot from CD.

You should get 3 choices, you want the first one...'repair an existing.....'
This will install Recovery Console...it'll be slow to install.

Once in RC, type the following:
del C:\Recycler
Enter.

Agree to any prompts, and reboot, but go into normal windows (not boot from CD)

Let me know if recycle bins are empty now.

Just a thought:

Instead of messing with the bios, you can press f12 repeatedly while the computer is starting up. Then select the cd drive and press enter.

note: you will have to do this every time you want to boot off the cd.

Thanks wng_z3r0 for the input. I'm pretty adept w/ Bios and S/W stuff -- I've been building computers for about 8 yrs. Spyware/Malware is the new learning curve.
