Hello Leo

I'm sorry for the delay in replying to your thread, our helpers look for zero reply posts... because you posted a reply to your intitial post I'm afraid it got missed. :(

If you are happy to be helped by me, please close this topic at Tom Coyote's. It is not advisable to have two topics running on different forums, it can get confusing and the helper on the second forum could be spending their time helping someone else!

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

Post back with the smitfraudfix log and a new HijackThis log

ok... First of all we will restore the items that Ewido has quaranteened

Open up Ewido, click on the grey Infections icon and then click select all and then restore. Close Ewido.

I would like to search your registry for any instances of SpyHeal, I know Ewido seems to have found something but I'm wondering now if it is a false positive.

Please go to Bills site and download the registry search tool, you will find it about two thirds of the way down the page.

http://billsway.com/vbspage/

Extract the tool out of the zip file and into a folder and then double click the RegSrch.vbs file to run it. Copy and paste the following into the search field and click ok

SpyHeal

Please wait until Regsearch has finished, it won't take long but you may think nothing is happening. When it is done you will either get a pop up telling you nothing has been found... just make a note of what it says and click ok, or it will say it has found x number of instances and will open up the results in word pad... if that happens then please copy the contents of the word pad document that opens up and paste it here

I assume that you have had no pop ups or anything trying to sell you a rogue program? I certainly couldn't see it in your hijackthis log and there doesn't seem to be a trace of it in your registry.

Ok.. I think we may have a false positive here, I'm not a registry expert though. I'll let the folks at Ewido know. Keep an eye on this thread, I won't archive it yet.... if I get any further information I'll let you know.

But for now I wouldn't worry! :thumbleft:

Thanks Leo for letting me know... they guys from Ewido didn't get back to me.. but they must be very busy. ;) So if you are having no more problems then I assume they have updated the product to deal with the false positive you were getting.
