HI, I am knew to this forum so greeting and regards! =)

Well me first start by saying that this is my fault. I installed a unkown exe thinking it was somthing else and now trying to do everything I can without haveing to reinstall my PC. This install has been working like a dream untill I messed up... So to begin with after the exe installed itself the smitfraud icons started poping up, I looked on google and found a removal tool where you had to into safe mode to run, ran that but issues still remained. When I would run spybot it found virtumonde, while at worked I researched and was crushed. So came home and found a virtumonde removal tool called vundofix and it took several attempts and it says there are no more infected files, now i have somthing called sysprotect. Geez these things are endless....anyway funny thing is that my avg symantec corp is not picking up any virus's and now when i ran ad aware it found nothing neither did spybot. I still have the sysprotect icon at the toolbar and its trying to connect and install itself, i have zone alarm set to block but this is getting crazy. Please help here is my log....

Ok, let's continue :)

You may want to print out these instructions or save it as a text document, and use them as a reference. If you have any questions regarding the fix, please ask us before proceeding. It is also important for you to don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order.

=====================================

Please open HijackThis, click Do a system scan only, and then place a checkmark beside each of these entries:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {59F7FB86-A7A9-46BE-9717-1B48E0F7D2B3} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NI.USYP_0001_N85M2606] "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\USYP_0001_N85M2606NetInstaller.exe" -nag
O16 - DPF: {51D0B207-B890-63BD-5485-1A97703375AB} - http://85.255.113.214/1/gdnUS2339.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winemx32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winemx32.dll

After placing all the checkmarks, close all windows (except HJT), and then hit Fix Checked. When it finishes, exit HJT.

=====================================

Locate and delete the following file(s), if present :
    C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\USYP_0001_N85M2606NetInstaller.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winemx32.dll

=====================================

Post back with a new Hijackthis log :)

Hi Jet,

I followed your steps but it would not allow me to delete the winemx32.dll file it says that it may be write protected or in use, i tried rebooting than deleting with no luch. I was not able to the find the other file in downloaded programs under windows. However I have now noticed that the pesky icon on my task bar is now gone.. so hopefully we got most of it, here is the log I am very eager to resolve this asap, thanks jet!

Yes, I was also curious about that file. I've been asking around for other expert's opinion, because I still don't know if it is related to a new infection. For the mean time, I'll just ask you to submit that to Jotti later so we can know if it's infected.

=====================================

I need you to submit some file(s).
  • Please go to Jotti's malware scan
  • Copy and paste the following file path into the File to upload & scan box on the top of the page:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\{84FA7B4B-07D9-1033-0907-050708040001}\Update.exe

  • Click on the Submit button
  • Please post the results in your next reply.
=====================================

Show Hidden Files and Folders

Click Start » My Computer » Tools » Folder Options. Select the View tab.
  • Check - Show hidden files and folders
  • Uncheck - Hide file extensions for known types
  • Uncheck - Hide protected operating system files
Click Yes to confirm, then OK to exit.

=====================================

Reboot into Safe Mode
  • Restart your computer.
  • Before the Windows logo appear, tap F8 repeatedly.
  • A menu should appear, select Safe Mode from the menu using your arrow keys and then hit Enter on your keyboard.
  • This will take a while than usual, so just wait.
=====================================

Click Start » Run
Paste this on the box then press Enter :

regsvr32 /u occache.dll

=====================================

Locate and delete the following file(s), if present :
    C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\USYP_0001_N85M2606NetInstaller.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winemx32.dll

Last file scanned at least one scanner reported something about: irsetup.rar

What's this? Is it included in the report? Or did you submit irsetup.rar to Jotti?

I also downloaded the atf cleaner but have not ran it just sitting on my desktop

I asked you to run it, here's the instructions for it again :

Download ATF Cleaner
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser, do this also:
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose Select All from the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser, do this also:
  • Click Opera at the top and choose Select All from the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE : If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Oh FYI i haven't ran the panda scan or the atf cleaner because i could not delete the winemx32.dll, wasn't sure if you wanted me to proceed or not =)

Please run Panda and post the log on your next post.

Ok, we'll try to kill this file in this round :

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winemx32.dll

Let's continue..

=====================================

You may want to print out these instructions or save it as a text document, and use them as a reference. If you have any questions regarding the fix, please ask us before proceeding. It is also important for you to don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order.

=====================================

Download Killbox
  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
  • Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select Delete on Reboot.
  • Click on the All Files button.
  • Copy the words below (blue) by highlighting all of them and pressing Ctrl + C on your keyboard.

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winemx32.dll

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Click the Unregister .dll Before Deleting button.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes when prompted to restart your computer.
NOTES :
  • If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.
  • If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.
=====================================

Please open HijackThis, click Do a system scan only, and then place a checkmark beside each of these entries:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winemx32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winemx32.dll

After placing all the checkmarks, close all windows (except HJT), and then hit Fix Checked. When it finishes, exit HJT.

=====================================

Then post a new Hijackthis log please along with the Panda log.

Hi Jet,

What's this? Is it included in the report? Or did you submit irsetup.rar to Jotti?

This was included in the report when I copied the screen, after submitting for the update.exe it didn't have a nice neat report like the other scans tools we have been using. I did not submit for irsetup.rar.

I continued with your steps and used killbox to remove the winemx32.dll, i did not get any messages about it, it successfully removed it from the system32 to folder. Than i used hijack and removed the line...

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winemx32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winemx32.dll

I noticed that when i removed it the system32 part of it now said no file (looks like we got that part of it =))

I now followed the rest of the steps and used atf cleaner from the desktop and cleared everything for and firefox. I than ran panda scan and Hijack and came with this..

Incident Status Location

Potentially unwanted tool:Application/Processor Not disinfected C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\SmitfraudFix\Process.exe
Potentially unwanted tool:Application/Processor Not disinfected C:\Documents and Settings\AZIATIC\Desktop\Tools\SmitfraudFix\Process.exe

Hi Jet another quick FYI..

After I had rebooted update.exe poped back up on zone alarm requesting to connect, I denied it. But from looking at what Jotti scan came up with, I am thinking this is a bad thing right?

Ok, it has just been confirmed that Update.exe is malware. We'll try to kill it in this round, let's hope that it will go away quietly ;)

You may want to print out these instructions or save it as a text document, and use them as a reference. If you have any questions regarding the fix, please ask us before proceeding. It is also important for you to don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order.

=====================================

Please copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the following text in the quote to Notepad. Save it as "All Files" and name it FixME.reg. Please save it on your desktop.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\explorer\run]
"{84FA7B4B-07D9-1033-0907-050708040001}"=-

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\CLSID\{84FA7B4B-07D9-1033-0907-050708040001}]

Double click FixME.reg. It will ask you if you want to merge it to the registry, click Yes.

=====================================

=====================================

Locate and delete the following folder(s), if present :
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\{84FA7B4B-07D9-1033-0907-050708040001}\
=====================================

Restart your computer

=====================================

Post back with a new Hijackthis log :)
