Unread postby LCrime » May 3rd, 2005, 11:18 pm

I have run several malware prevention applications, including most of the ones listed in the recommendations prior to running hijackthis. My PC is still infected by the Trojan-Spy.html virus. Please help. Please provide instructions as to what to do next.

Thanks in advance,

Hi again LCrime...

Please follow the instructions below to download HijackThis and post back a log for us to take a look.

Step 1.
==========
- Download HijackThis from http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/HijackThis.exe
- Save it on the root of your C: Drive to a folder called C:\HJT or C:\HijackThis
1. Open "My Computer"
2. Double-click "C:" or "Local Disk (C: )"
3. Right-click in an open area in that window
4. Select/left-click on "New" from the drop-down
5. Select/left-click on "Folder"
6. A folder will appear with the cursor blinking and the words "New Folder" will be highlighted
7. Name the folder HJT or HijackThis

Step 2.
==========
- Start HijackThis
- Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled "Don't show this frame again when I start HijackThis."
- Click on the "None of the above, just start the program" button. You will then be presented with the main HijackThis screen
- Click the "Scan" button to start the process
- When scan complete click the "Save log" button
- Save the "Log" file into the HijackThis directory
- Close HijackThis program without "Fixing" anything
- Navigate to the HijackThis folder and double-click the 'hijackthis.log file
- Notepad should open
- Click on Edit and then Select All. All the text should now be selected
- Click on Edit and then Copy, which will copy all the selected text into your clipboard
- Come back to this thread and paste the contents of the log
