Scripts Running on Page - XP - Grrrr!

Unread postby Raptor » March 19th, 2012, 10:41 pm

O.S. Windows XP.....Browser - Firefox
I keep getting messages that scripts are running with the selection to continue them or stop them. (I always stop the critters).
My computer slows to a C-R-A-W-L when one of these pops up and it happens very often....especially in Hotmail.
Here are a few of the running script messages:

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now or you can continue to see if the script will complete.
Script: resource:///components/nsContentPrefService.js:743
Another time this:
Script: http://static.ning.com/socialnetworkmai ... 03192008:5
Yet another time:
Script: resource:///components/nsDownloadManagerUI.js:139
Etc...etc....

Please.....Is there a way to stop this madness? :x

It may be because your version of Java is out of date. You can verify the version of Jav you have installed at this link: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
It will tell you what the most up-to-date version is to install if needed.

You can try using the Firefox addon NoScripts: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... /noscript/

I installed the add-on "no scripts" and it's a pain in the butt...but it works....and it's better than waiting for 3 minutes for a page to load.
Thank you

Glad you found a somewhat acceptable solution. :)
I've read that Firefox does not handle Javascript pages as well as some other browsers. Another possible remedy would be to try a different browser.
