OK, I will do it that way. What educational institution are you affiliated with? I would like to know who I'm benefitting, if possible.

I am a retired IT professional after a 40-year carreer. My education is from the University of Texas at Austin.

Thanks once again for your high-quality assistance and advice. It is very much appreciated on this end.

Best of luck in your career,

Stephen Clark

I noticed you didn't require me to uninstall Spybot S & D. Does this mean that you approve of this program?

I'll start a new thread on my wife's machine next week when I have time. I do appreciate your help and advice.

Will I be getting you, or different helper next week? If I may ask, what educational institution are you working with?

By profession, I was an Electronics Engineer, Lowell Tech (now part of UMass).
This is my retired volunteer "job" after 40+ working years. See the MVP link in my sig.
This whole site is a free service, and also a teaching site for new anti-spyware helpers.
There is a "Support Us" button at the top of the page.

I too have a associate degree in EE, but my bachelor's was in mathematics. Built my first computer in 1964.

So, we have two "old pros" here.....what is your opinion of Ad-Aware? Spybot S & D?

Is Microsoft's anti-virus really robust enough to compare with third party a-v's such as Kaspersky?

I'll be happy to make a contribution when we're done with my wife's machine.

Spyware:
Ad-Aware is poor ar removals.
Spybot is fair at removals.
MBAM is good at removals.
SuperAntiSpyware is good at removals, with obnoxious marketing.
Antivirus:
Msse is really quite good.
Kaspersky is one of the best.
ESET is one of the best.

Thanks for your recommendations.

I started a new thread for my wife's machine. Is it possible for you to pick that one up?

It is at viewtopic.php?f=11&t=58025

Thanks!
