Hi gwlee

Welcome to the Malware Removal forums. I will be more than happy to help you work on your problems.
Please give me some time to review your log as this can be a lengthy process. As soon as a MR Staff Expert reviews my fix, I will post it for you.
In the mean time, if any problems occur. Please let me know.
Please only use this topic to reply to. Do not start another thread.
The fixes we will use are specific to your problems and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
If you’re unsure of anything at all please stop and ask!

You may want to print out these instructions or copy them to notepad since you will not have internet access during some of our fixes.

You have SpySweeper installed. While this is a great program, we need to temporarily disable (not uninstall) the program because it might stop our fix.

To disable SpySweeper:

Open it click >Options over to the left then >program options >Uncheck "load at windows startup".
Over to the left click "shields" and uncheck all there.
Uncheck "home page shield".
Uncheck 'automaticly restore default without notifiction".
_ _ _ _ _ _
Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel(if present):

Crystalys media
p2pnetworks
ICOO Loader

The following are optional:

Boonty Shared <<--if you or someone else who uses your computer does not did not install this, you should remove it.

Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in that list in your next response

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only

Download smitRem.exe ©noahdfear, and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Place a shortcut to Panda ActiveScan on your desktop (in Internet Explorer, right click on Panda ActiveScan link select "Copy Shortcut" then right click on your desktop and select "Paste Shortcut" or in FireFox right-click the link and select "Save Link As" and save it to your desktop).

Please download the trial version of ewido anti-malware here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Don't run it yet!

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  1. Restart your computer
  2. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  3. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  4. Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Go to Start | Run and type this in the box: services.msc
  • Locate this services, 'Boonty Games then right click and select properties.
  • Under Service Status: select Stop
  • In the drop down box labeled, Startup Type: select Disabled

Note: only stop the "Boonty Games" service if you uninstalled it earlier.

Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Close ewido anti-malware.

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut.
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button.
  • A new window will open...click the Check Now button.
    • Enter your Country
    • Enter your State/Province
    • Enter your e-mail address and click send
    • Select either Home User or Company
    • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When the download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.
Post the contents of the Panda scan report, along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of smitfiles.txt and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply.
Let us know if any problems persist.

Dear Gwlee,

It appears that your HJT log is from Safe Mode. I'll need you to reboot and post a fresh HJT log from Normal Mode.

Before we proceed, I wanted to clarify a couple things. I notice that your latest response was posted about 2 days after my latest fix. In order to clean out the computer effectively, it is imperative that all fixes be applied in a timely manner, otherwise the malware will probably mutate and the instructions posted will be worthless.

I understand that this computer is your brother-in-law's and you aren't at his place all the time. If it's not possible for you to complete the fixes and respond promptly, it may be more effective for your brother-in-law to simply post his own log here.

Please let me know what you decide to do.

Regards,

Thanks for the help, I sort of figure that it would be difficult to solve/fix his problems if I didn't have full access to his pc. I will tell him that he will need to start posting his own hijack logs. He is not to tech savvy, so that is why he called me.

BTW, I did delete a winfixer folder on his harddrive.
