Hi folks,

Previously when I have installed the latest version of WP it has completely overwritten the older version, tidying up as it went but this time it left an older version still there in Add/remove Programs. I thought that if I used either of the entries to uninstall it would run the uninstaller and tidy up and remove both entries in Add/remove but which ever one I used it only removed it's own entry.
So, what's up with the new versions installation process?

I got round the issue by uninstalling both the old and the new versions and re-installing the new one. It must be real confusing for some other folk.
The issue was bought to my attention on another forum I use, here
http://forums.computeractive.co.uk/show ... p?t=209592

I look forward to your feedback

Jack

Not sure ........Still should be able to install over the previous version.
But what i have seen on some of the forums a clean install is best

A number of people have run into the version 19.1.2010.1:19.3.2010.0 installation. The correct version is 19.3.2010.0:19.3.2010.0. I am in the process of writing an illustration of the issues I am aware of and a solution that will solve the problem until Bill figures out what caused it. He has not been able to replicate it himself.

I'll post back here with a link after it is completed.

Here you go. Solved the problems for me: WinPatrol 19.3 Issues and Solutions.

Note: I do not recommend using CCleaner. The reason is that many people may also use the Registry Cleaner. Using CCLeaner Reg Cleaner would likely remove PLUS registration information as well as delayed start, history, etc. A normal uninstall of both versions will work fine.

Regarding CCleaner and WinPatrol -- CCleaner added WinPatrol (along with *Malwarebytes' Anti Malware and Avast!) in version v2.36.1233. Bill finally had an opportunity today to reach out to Piriform via Twitter so he can explain which files will help to clean up, but protect the data/registry information for normal use.

*If you see disappearing MBAM or Avast! logs and use CCleaner, check your CCleaner settings to see if they are pre-checked.
