Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Carolyn and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. The logs that you will be posting can take some time to research, so please be patient with me. I know that you need your computer working as quickly as possible, and I will work hard to help see that it happens.

Please do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
Please reply to this thread, do not start another!
Please tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
Please tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
Please try as much as possible not to run anything while executing a fix.

If you follow these instructions, everything should go smoothly.

Step 1

Image
Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here.
Disable any script blocker, and then right click dds.scr and select "Run as administrator" to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

Step 2

GMER

Please download GMER Rootkit Scanner from Here.
  • Disable Norton 360 so it does not interfere with the scan
    1. Right-click the Norton 360 icon in the system tray and select Open Tasks and
      Settings Window.
    2. On the right side, under Settings, click on Change advanced settings.
    3. Next, click on the Virus & Spyware Protection Settings.
    4. Uncheck Turn on Auto-Protect and select Apply.
    5. You will be asked to select a time for Norton to reactivate.
    6. Choose Until I turn it back on.
    7. Note: Don't forget to Re-enable it after the fix
  • To run GMER, right click the .exe file and select Run as administrator. If asked to allow .sys driver to load, please consent.
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All << (don't miss this one)
See image below, Click the image to enlarge it
    Image

  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in your next reply
**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

Note: Do not run any programs while Gmer is running.

If GMER crashes, then restart your computer and try again, this time also uncheck Devices. You can also try the scan in safe mode if necessary. You might want to save these instructions with notepad or print them because there's no internet in safe mode:

  • Restart your computer
  • During startup, but before the Windows logo appears, tap the F5/F8 key continually or hold down the Shift key;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • When asked to proceed to safe mode, click Yes.
  • Make sure Norton 360 is disabled, then follow the GMER instructions.
  • When finished reboot the computer.

In your next reply, please post:

  1. DDS.txt
  2. Attach.txt
  3. Gmer.txt

Due to a lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
