thumbnails and mini-file association icons screwed etc etc

Unread postby Slabbo » October 12th, 2010, 12:40 am

Hi all,

So I have noticed recently that SOME of my thumbnail images as well as the little mini-icon showing the file association (I've noticed it on video files, but some of em, and some pics are still there, and it doesn't generate new thumbs, just the icon showing the file type)

I recently have stupidly installed something called 91 PC suite or something, all in chinese. Stupid move. I uninstalled it, but i'm not sure thats the problem.

I also see an "unknown user" with when I go to c:/users/myusername" it has a little lock icon my my name, and when I go to properties->security, I see 2 group/usernames. 1 is "account unknown" with data S-1-5-21-2393084004-2601165811-3445735533...(truncated)
and for a moment, saw it entered again just as the numeric string. But now it's gone, when i just clicked back to the window.

Hijack this couldnt get to my hosts file.. Here are my logs:

Unread postby Slabbo » October 12th, 2010, 6:54 pm

Bump. Other folks are getting responses, and my post is sinking into the mire. Seems like you all are the people with the wisdom to understand these logs, etc, so I'm really hoping to get help as to whats up with my pc.

(by the way, the icons have restored after a K-Lite update, but there is a bluescreen at bootup that doesn't seem to prevent me from doing anything, but the computer now makes me go through the "use system repair or load windows normally" screen....weird...

Thanks

Please familiarize yourself with the forum rules: >Forum Posting Rules - Please Read<

We're sorry, but it is necessary to close your topic because you have replied to it prior to receiving a response from a helper.

Due to adding on to your topic with your second post it is highly unlikely that you would have received a response. Our helpers are looking for topics with zero responses. When you post replies to your own topic, it no longer has zero responses, and so it appears that you have received help when in fact, you have not.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Malware Removal forum and wait for assistance. Please do not run additional programs and/or post additional logs. Just your HijackThis log and Uninstall List to start with is adequate. Your helper will ask for additional logs as needed. DO NOT reply to your own topic until you have received a response from a helper.

You bumped your topic after less than 24 hours even though no topic newer than yours had received a response. It is not realistic to expect a reply that soon. Please keep in mind that this site is supported entirely by volunteer staff. If your situation is emergent, and you require immediate help, then you should consider taking your computer to a trusted local shop where its problems could likely be addressed more quickly than at a free volunteer supported online forum such as this one.
