Malwarebytes not working properly

Unread postby FrustratedEric » September 30th, 2010, 4:04 pm

Hello again

Now, I tried downloading HijackThis.exe, as I was told to after my first topic on this problem. Downloading it froze my computer, which I found could only be resolved by rebooting. I tried to download HijackThis a total of four times, each time it froze, so I can't provide the logs that you guys ask for in this post.

My problems remain the same: My computer is performing sluggishly and slowly, and when I run Malwarebytes, it finds a total of 13 infected files, but cannot remove them, becase it freezes during the removal process, and when I attempt to do something else, even open the Task Manager, it freezes the entire computer. I've managed to get enough performance out of the computer to get online and post this problem here by keeping the Task Manager open and ending any malware processes that I find, but that is, at best, a temporary solution. What can I do to fix this problem? The only plan I can come up with is using Malwarebytes to get a log of all the infected files' names and locations, searching them out and manually deleting them while ending their processes simultaneously. However, this search and destroy method would be quite time-consuming, so I would really prefer an alternative solution.

We understand that you are having difficulty running certain programs, including HijackThis. However, in order for us to help you it is necessary that you provide us with a HijackThis log, and it is possible you may be able to do that after following the instructions below:

Download/run Rkill:

Please download Rkill from one of the following links and save to your Desktop:

One, Two or Three

  • Double click on Rkill.
  • A command window will open then disappear upon completion, this is normal.
  • Please leave Rkill on the Desktop until otherwise advised.

Note: If your security software warns about Rkill, please ignore and allow the download to continue.

Next, please follow the guideline at the link below to start a new topic and post your HijackThis log. If you are unable to create and post a HijackThis log, then your only option may be to reformat your computer and reinstall the operating system.

This topic is now closed. Please start a new topic by following the HijackThis Guideline posted here: >Guideline for posting your HijackThis log<
